Sad to say, but my 91 Honda Accord is still kicking at 185K. One fuel injector is weak, though, and so when I'm idling, it idles for the three good injectors at about 800 RPM, then zooms to 2,200 RPM for the bad injector (to compensate). So, as I'm sitting at a light, it's like vrooom, vroom, vroom... :D bp

yea sorry i wasn't clear.... i was referring to the motor you got with all the sludge.... and Gator is correct.... everything breaks eventually otherwise there wood bee no parts stores
No you were clear. I was just throwing myself under the bus also. Cause I was really feeling guilty for not servicing it better.

But, you and Gator make a good point. The cam breaking in my car had nothing to do with service or care. I baby that thing when I drive it. When we first got it I thought it was kinda doggy cause it drove so smooth. One day I was getting on the freeway, and stood down on it. Man it just kept pulling and pulling. I was quite surprised.

I don't thing I have even hit passing gear 1-2 times the whole time I have owned it. Laura drives fast, but not quick. She just works the speed up the longer she drives.

hey BP, unless you allready had it checked out, it just may be acumulated pcv vaper/sludge around the air blade and the computer is fighting the low idle speed, revving up and down .. worth a peek inside where the flexible tube runs from the air filter box to the intake.. have someone sit in the car engine off and floor the pedal.. then wipe the bore and throttle blade clean..

EEEYup, Randy about a year ago Jenni had a V-6 Lumina I had to pull apart. I cheated some tho, as Jenni's boyfriend has the exact same car. So, I compared cars to get all the vacuum hoses on right. Got it runnin' and the tranny went out shorty after.   But,,,,,,, now there's no need to believe that will happen in this case....... no ...not at all.   Jenni's car had 210,000 miles on it.

Randy, would it help if we put a spud on the crank so you could turn it over with the big rachet to adj the valves. Don't forget to back it down before you start it! Randy, just went the intake gasket deal on Trish's Malibu. But I made a deal with her. She does'nt work on my pickup, and I don't work on her car!! That way she can't blame me if it goes to poop!
If you think it's exciting now, wait till we start it.

I just got home. I have the engine back in the car. It is bolted in, trans connected, and just started putting things back on it. I felt better about the used engine after looking over our work from last nite. Since I was feeling a little kinder to it, I pulled all the rocker arms again and put some lube on them. I dumped a qt of fresh oil all over the lifter valley camshaft area.

I guess I am going to run some sea-foam thru it on the start up oil. Then change it after 100 miles or so. Then maybe another oil change around 500 miles. I will see what that oil looks like and decide how long before the next change.

I gave up race car nite to work on this thing! That sucks!
