Bret Kepner--Great Job!!!

Postby Rapid Randy Baker » Sun Sep 09, 2007 7:47 pm

I have been meaning to write this for some time, but never got a good chance to.

Bret and Bob Frey did the 2007 World Series. If some of you have never had the pleasure of having Bret do an event you attended,,,I can tell you for sure you are missing out! :D

Anyway, THANK YOU for making my racing at the 54th annual such a cool deal. I always appreciate all the time and effort you put into the announcing job, as do all the racers.

Thanks again,

Rapid

No arguments here. He's great. And as a fellow announcer, let me say that he is one of the most generous guys I've worked with. Some guys are not happy unless they are completely hogging the mike. Bret is secure enough to set you up with great lines and conversation points. He also has given me tons of great tips that have helped me over the years. If you ever get a chance to attend an event Bret announces, you are in for a treat. Imagine drag racing coverage with the knowledge and stats that you might hear on an NFL or MLB broadcast. Same thing, except Bret doesn't have a crew in the truck feeding him the info -- he has it in his head. bp

I have to agree with you guys about Brett. There is no one better at announcing drag racing than he is.

I missed meeting Bret here in Houston when they had Dragapalooza a while back...didn't know he was here until after the event...but I hope to meet him and hear his announcing talent soon. Shoot, if BP looks up to him as an announcer, he is definitely something special! I heard BP in Houston a few years ago and at Eddyville last year and he's a natural, with a gift for creating excitement...Great going at the World Series, Bret! Cheers, WC1

Well, I don't know about THAT, but...

Speaking of hogging the mike, in the interest of sparing Frey any fallout for something I might have said during the event, it should be pointed out that Bob was only on the P.A. for about five minutes total during the weekend. He was only there to tape a segment of his NHRA Tracks feature on our Inside Drag Racing show, not to announce.

By the way, did I mention I went red in the third round? No Three-Sweep for Mr. Dirt! I guess I'll have to remain a two-time World Series Champ for now. :?

8) allways great to see Bret sittin' on the wall at Gateway waiting for a good shot.... and when he goes up into the tower to announce the late rounds it has been a pleasure just to hear his voice. hopefully he will see my uncle Curt album deal and submit an old photo or a good story :P
