Car count

Postby Andamo » Mon May 08, 2006 8:03 am

I'm wondering what is going on with the weekly car count at the local tracks? Yesterday was the first day for points at PRP, and the car count was down. A friend races at Steel Valley, and he's saying the count is down. Another friend was at Quaker City on Sunday for the Pro-Am event, and he said the count was light there also. What is it, the price of gasoline, too early in the season, the cost of racing, the kids still being in school or what? I know here on the east coast the weather is kind of iffy and towing to the track and then the rains come in will make you think twice about going. I don't know, what's your opinion.

I believe our car count is up across the board also, everyone I talk to that races has'nt really said anything about the gas deal, other than being unhappy about it. If worse comes to worse, we will sell the dually and big trailer and get a 1/2 ton p.u. with a single axle dragster trailer,(open), but WE WILL RACE.
If you think it's exciting now, wait till we start it.

I have seen car counts "fluctuate"

There are so many strips wi int about a 3 hour drive around here that some people travel. That would be pending on the purse.

It makes sense for a foot brake guy like me. Drive 45minutes, pay 40 bucks for me and the car, another 10 for the wife. Purse 600 bucks/

Drive for two hours.. 30 bucks to get in, still 10 for the wife, 2000 for the purse. It makes up for the gas and extra time.

600 at my local track. 1000 at moorseville..
2000 for special events.

BTW, those are for footbrake, no electronics class. Pro RT is quite a bit more. I'll check for you later.

The fast classes are as follows..
Greer.. 1K
Mooresville... 2K
Ware Shoals.. 3K

There are other tracks around that base it on car count. These guys above all base it on a minimum car count.
Ware Shoals does not run every week.
Greer also has a dash for cash. I think it's 100 bucks.

Mooresville is worth the drive if you can go rounds. Their round money is pretty good.. Probably 150 miles for me.
