safety slow cars in with fast cars

Postby gary b » Tue May 09, 2006 7:14 pm

i want you alls opion of running slower cars with fast cars in bracket racing?? it scares me to see my kids racing a 4 second dragster against stock street cars... everyone seem to think i'm crazy?? do y'all think a stock car can get out of the way or the fast car can slow down enough to miss if the stock car get's in the fast cars lane??

I do like watchin' those races, but you're right.... could be trouble if things go bad.

Gary, No in answer to your question. That being said though here is some comfortaing news.

The actual time that the cars will be close to each other on the track is very very small. So that minimizes the chances of the cars getting together.

The other thing, is by the time your boy leaves in the dragster, the other car will be mostly down the track. If something is going to go wrong, there is a very good chance it will happen before you son even leaves.

I don't see it as a big dangerous deal. He will be fine. If you are worried about him, get him a fuel altered!

Gary, if the pic is on the web already, then just put the URL of the picture up here with a after it.

If the pic's not on the web already, then send it to me at draglist@hotmail.com with a message subject of "Message Board Pic" and I'll get it on the web for you. bp

Maritime Drag Racing

Here in the Maritimes the ET cutoff in S/Pro is 11.49 - it's still a long wait for a 7 second dragster but it's not as bad as racing an 18 sec street car. Since our Saturday Gambler's races are of the box/no box variety you don't often see that scenario then either.

It is a very scary thought, I have never seen it happen, but I'm sure it could. Seeing as how the slower car would leave first, the other car would be going like mad to play catch-up, and anything could happen. I would think that the track people would take that into consideration when pairing them up for eliminations.

as for as our saturday program at Gateway that kind of matchup shown (beautiful car by the way !! ) will never occur due to the et breakdowns of the classes... street et 12.00 and slower.... and also the bikes only race bikes... sure there are some circumstances when a 180 mph dragster is chasing down a 140 mph car or a 140 mph car is chasing our 105 mph car but nothing like the deal shown in the pic.. maybe on a TnT nite ??
