Bill:

Beautiful shots! Loved the old event posters. I announced that one! Tower was then a small house trailer.

On Saturday it rained on and off about 4 hours. I sent Pete Talmadge - AHRA's starter - out into the crowd with a micrphone and we answered their questions for about 2 hours at one point. Ah, those were the days.

Thanks, guys! I just now looked at the photos. I'm a little disappointed with them as they are not centered in some cases and I cut off the tops of heads and cars! In my defense, it was SO bright out there that I could not see through the viewfinder that well. Those concession stand girls sure were cute. I'll have captions soon. bp

Thank you all, for your support and I'm glad you had a good time.

Bill thank you for all you did and the great announcing.

Perry all it takes is a few races to spectate to realize you need to get your car done.

The gassers were a big hit. Maybe next year we can get a sponsor and have a actual gasser eliminator. That might help draw in a couple of more cars. As if 21 gassers was'nt enough.

Great pictures Bill as they do capture the feel of the event.
Thanks, Denny. You guys have something great there. The only downside (?) is the CRAZY roads on the way to Marion! What the? Dead stops, 45 degree turns, going straight through some factories, etc. Man, I was so tired Saturday night that I kept thinking I had missed the town... Thanks again for everything, Denny bp

Thanks, Jon! I was slobbering over how great that event must have been. You can tell that the folks at Marion County really love their drag racing. There were all sorts of posters and memories posted within the entire tower. Great place and great people. bp

I would like to thank all you guys from the glnfcc. You gave me something that was only a memory in my mind. Back in the 70", when I was in my teens and would watch dragracing on tv, I always wished I could be there. We only lived about 10 miles from Dragway 42 and could sometimes hear the top fuel car making there runs. But my parents weren't into dragracing so I never got to be there in person. You guys gave that to me in person Sat night at Marion. THANK YOU. I wish you guys the best of luck, health, and and the finances to keep showing all of us what it was like back in the 70s. When you tell by looking at the car what kind of car it was. And to Bill Pratt, it was great meeting and talking to you. Did you get any pics. of the funny yellow golf cart?

Daryl - so you're the one with the golf car wheelstander?

 Just part of the story of this first event...

I did not get any shots of the wheelstander, but I recorded its times. No doubt others got some shots. I started a new job on Monday, so I've been slowly trying to get up to speed at night. Will caption the photos and put up a race report by the weekend. bp

That's a cool little exhibition vehicle you've got. Weren't you up at Thompson in June too? I know I've seen you more than once...
