I WON!!!!!!!

Postby Big Erik » Tue Oct 14, 2008 12:22 pm

couple days late here but this weekend dad and i attended the innuagural top sportsman nationals in Lyons Indiana ET RACEWAY.........a little 1/8th mile track in the middle of nowhere......it was small but a nice place.......all concrete track........but it was short........3k to win and I WON!!!!........it was to be a 32 car field put on by Jim Pattin who runs the midwest top sportsman website and is tryin his hardest to ge tthe word out about our kind of racing........ 18 cars showed up for the race.....a few guys got scared away by a "fast bump"......but with 18 cars on the grounds it was still to be a killer race!!.....this type of show at this track is akin to a fuel show anywhere else pretty much there were alot of fans!!............I didn;t back into the win either I had to RACE for it!!... I qualified 15th with a 4.93 1st round i had Ken langolis who is a big time IHRA t/s racer.......best pass of the day for me....002 on the tree and 4.95 on a 4.95 dial!!....2nd round i had my buddy Jeff Southerland in his ex P/s cutlass he went .032 and i went .019 and ran a 4.95 on a 4.94 he went 4.80 on a 4.79......3rd round I got the bye and needed it i had a terrible .130 light and wnet 4.96 on a 4.93 dial.perfect time to have that run!!.semis i had Brian brown who runs Dave Howard's old P/S camaro......I was there for the taking with a .048 light but he fumbled it and went .123 and ran way off tryin to catch me a 4.68 on a 4.74 dial i went 4.94 on a 4.94!!.......in the final I had Mike Kokenas in his KOKE MACHINE ex pro mod 64 dodge polara......the dew was setting in and we decided to split the money and RACE for the 4ft tall trophy we each got 2600 bucks.......we ran the race he went .032 i went .015 he ran a 4.72 on a 4.73 tryin to catch that big old bubbletop i ran a 4.95 on a 4.94 and IWON!!!!.......it was just dad and i and the smile on his face was worth all the troublewe have had this was the first time i ever won with my 62 and only the 3rd time i have ever won anything!!!!!!ERIK
I'm everything they say i am......I'm so bad......Baby i don't care!!!

Congratulations, Erik! That's awesome! What a great show that must have been on a small track. Took out Langois! Wow! bp
