Apology to Gator and the group

Postby CH3NO2 » Wed May 24, 2006 11:19 am

As we all know the pen is sharper than the sword. Yesterday was one of the worst days in recent memory. I came on the site yesterday to read the posts, add a comment here or there, to take the edge off as we all do at times. Since I live in So CAL, it has seemed or I have perceived the hype, and coverage about the American Idol TV show has been on everyday news cast or local channel the last 3 or 4 days, and quite frankly I got tired of hearing it. I guess it got as old as the 35 replays of Cory Mac's Bristol crash ESPN chooses to show over and over.

All that being said, because I had a bad day, I have no right to blast something in public I don't care about when others may have an interest. So, as my father ( RIP ) taught me a long time ago, when you are wrong admit it, apologize and move on.

To the group and Gator in particular, I am sorry if I offended any or all of you.

Nice move!! 8)

We have a pretty tight knit group of friends here. We also have a ton of people who watch but don't post. We welcome anyone to post here and jump in anywhere. However as you noticed we don't have the other boards internet bickering and junk that goes with it. THAT is what makes this place so cool!!!

I know I speak for all, when I say, its all good, and now it is over and forgotten. 8) Gator is a great guy and a good friend. He isn't a grudge holder.

Proud of you for starting this thread, that shows me you are the type of person who will fit in with the group. :)

Enjoy having you here,

Rapid

PS, go fill out the profile section so we have an idea who you are.

Jerry,

Pardon the ignorance, but I don't know what Nitromater is ??? I only belong to this site and Fred Miranda - a photographer's website.

Thanks for the post, CH3NO2; I think we all understand how you feel.

Rapid and Lippy have described our group as well as I ever could, and thanks for saying what y'all did, guys. Mutual feelings here for sure.

Gator is a retired professional drag racer and a pioneer of Pro Mod. He is a cornerstone of that class of car. He is a fine gentleman with experiences and knowledge in our sport gained through living it for decades that we can only dream of getting to do. I've met him, had dinner, hung out, brought my wife and had a marvelous evening with him when he was in town last year. He and my wife have some particular things in common that were a joy for me to listen to them talk about. They also both are interested in the American Idol TV series.

Since I live in Houston, I thought the Janet Jackson Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction was the hype of the new millenium...next to her brother's trial, which was also played up beyond any reasonable level of acceptance...right now, here, it's the Enron trial. That's going on right down the street. They got books about it already and they'll make a TV movie out of it before it's finished and behind the public consciousness and the executives who insist they did nothing wrong are finishing up their brief stays at their minimum-security country club...white-collar crime is handled differently in Texas, ya know...maybe elsewhere, I don't know...but it's what built this town. So we get it every day in detail, 4 times a day.

Anyway, I've had a bad day or two, maybe three, here and there. It sucks. Sorry. I also posted an apology a couple of months ago, to Mike and to the board. I hurt him and a lot of people by saying things that I not only didn't think about before I said them, but they also did not apply to him. To this day I regret it, deeply. Mike is a guy I look up to, and he was doing something good, which is what he's all about. The folks here told me I did the right thing in apologizing and we moved on and it's all good. I appreciated that very much and I moved on with them from there. I admire you for apologizing. I don't speak for Gator but I believe he will respond to this with the class and integrity that we all know him for.

Cheers, WC1

Well said CH3NO2...

I'm new here too but I can tell you right now that you will not a nicer group of folks out there.

Yes, we talk about anything and everything. When it comes down to racing, you hit the knowledge gold mine. People here will answer your questons or listen to your answers and ask for more.

I found today that I am in some seriously fast company on this board. There are hot mechanics, and people that were my heros when I was a kid. Still are today (Gator).
I just didn't know.

There are folks here that have left their mark on drag racing history and no one ever once flamed me for old, slow street car. As a matter of fact, quite the contrary.. They have asked me about it and then asked me to tell them more.

This is simply the best exit on the internet superhighway.. PERIOD!

AND.. FYI... CH3NO2, we all have a bad day now nad then bro.

Welcome to the board and hang in there and post, if you don't, you won't forgive yourself for throwing this place away later.

Doug..
