Thanks for the post, CH3NO2; I think we all understand how you feel.
Rapid and Lippy have described our group as well as I ever could, and thanks for saying what y'all did, guys. Mutual feelings here for sure.
Gator is a retired professional drag racer and a pioneer of Pro Mod. He is a cornerstone of that class of car. He is a fine gentleman with experiences and knowledge in our sport gained through living it for decades that we can only dream of getting to do. I've met him, had dinner, hung out, brought my wife and had a marvelous evening with him when he was in town last year. He and my wife have some particular things in common that were a joy for me to listen to them talk about. They also both are interested in the American Idol TV series.
Since I live in Houston, I thought the Janet Jackson Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction was the hype of the new millenium...next to her brother's trial, which was also played up beyond any reasonable level of acceptance...right now, here, it's the Enron trial. That's going on right down the street. They got books about it already and they'll make a TV movie out of it before it's finished and behind the public consciousness and the executives who insist they did nothing wrong are finishing up their brief stays at their minimum-security country club...white-collar crime is handled differently in Texas, ya know...maybe elsewhere, I don't know...but it's what built this town. So we get it every day in detail, 4 times a day.
Anyway, I've had a bad day or two, maybe three, here and there. It sucks. Sorry. I also posted an apology a couple of months ago, to Mike and to the board. I hurt him and a lot of people by saying things that I not only didn't think about before I said them, but they also did not apply to him. To this day I regret it, deeply. Mike is a guy I look up to, and he was doing something good, which is what he's all about. The folks here told me I did the right thing in apologizing and we moved on and it's all good. I appreciated that very much and I moved on with them from there. I admire you for apologizing. I don't speak for Gator but I believe he will respond to this with the class and integrity that we all know him for.
Cheers, WC1
