"The" Tranny KaBoom

Another story from Lions that is still fresh. Standing right next to the fence on the starting line that august night of 67 smelling nitro was Lew Arringtons "Brutus" GTO. He had just done 2 or 3 burnouts ,and there I was just a few feet away when he got the green and KaBoom went the tranny in that famous picture. A piece of the tranny lay about one foot from my feet still smoldering,I will never forget looking at the part smoking as well as the weird sight of the fire extinguisher haze that hung in the air as well as getting chewed out by my dad for standing where i should not have been. My dad is long gone but today is his birthday and I was thinking about all our great times at 223rd and Alameda, Thanks Dad!!
