I've been looking on for way too long guys, I missed all of you but some say if you don't have anything good to say, just don't say it. It's been a tough 5 months since we closed but my wifes health issues have improved for the better since that happened. I've been reading the blogs and stories for a very long time and just playing with graphics lately. I haven't been to a race since last year and It's looking like I'll miss the Funny Car reunion at E Town this coming Sunday. I love that show.

New Old Guy Here

Postby Tom McCrea » Thu Aug 07, 2008 8:30 am

Hi all,

My first drag race was in the summer of '63 at Delmar, DE. I was in the Army and out of the country during '67-'68 then returned to MD.

I was the track photographer at Delmar for a few years and raced with good friend Charlie Hampp (Witchcraft 55 Chevy Stocker and later '70 Camaro C/S then SS/E). Other good friends were Wheatley Bros., Tim & Dave Bishop, Alex Jarrell, Brad Watkins and a host of Jr Stockers.

From 1972 to 1979 I was Parts Manager for Harold Ramsey at his Pontiac dealership in Easton, MD and raced a 1965 Chevelle 427 bracket car.

Started my own repair business in 1982 and added a small mail order operation featuring TCI Transmissions. It was fun working with Bill Taylor and Larry Reyes. About that time I also worked with Holly Hedrich and AUTOBUFF magazine.

Last year I attended the York SS Reunion to be with Harold Ramsey's family as he was inducted into the Legion of Honor. It was great to see old friends Francis Butler and Fr. Ed Aigner (he baptized both my kids).

Looking forward to chatting with old friends.

Hi everyone, Daryl here in Ohio. I've been racing since 1978. Started with my dads 76 chry 300 hurst 440. won the street class and trophy at Dragway 42. My dad found out, asked me if I won. Told him I did. He said the trophy was his. He only kept for a few months. Love my dad and miss him. But thats when I fell in love with drag racing. Love at first sight and the smell of rubber. Been racing every year with any car I had ever since. 1999 I bought a 1923 t altered built in 1980 by Fred Bocka for John Grundy who raced in S/C NHRA. Excelent car. Fun to drive. Hope someday to meet you guys.
