I agree with Lions - the best track on the circuit for the fans convenience, the seating and still maintain great racing with a wonderful surrounding Vegas. Still, the best track in the country and still owner of the quickest T/F ever - Pomona - 7 cars under 4.500 - the 2005 Winternationals.

Watching the coverage on ESPN, the King Demon P/S final looked like there were 125 people on the right side grand stand. Chicago lost one of their races because of attendance, despite how nice the surface is to race on - I have made my point. Long live Indy, Pomona, Gainesville, Englishtown, and Las Vegas.

A picture is worth 1,000 words. Rt. 66 is a great facility. Not saying other tracks aren't just as good or better for that matter. Just sayin' the people @ Rt. 66 put on a good program and maintain a great facility. They will get no complaints from me.

CH3NO2, I really don't understand why you are so upset with the attendance at RT 66.
As far as making your point, you didn't, RT 66 did not lose a race, they gave it away.
The owners, meaning Tony George and Bill France, felt they could make more money on one race than two. It doesn't make sense to me but that's what I've been told by reliable sources.
As far as the number of people in the right side stands keep in mind that that side is reserved seating and there are security people under the stands and they won't allow anyone without a reserved ticket in that area.
Case in point, Bob Stange of Strange Engineering, and his inability to gain access to those stands last year without the proper tickets.
Also, everyone at the wall on that side had tickets for those seats or they wouldn't have been at the wall.
I have been told that the reserved seating was sold out for Sunday and the general admission tickets were sold out on Friday.
I won't get into an argument about what track is the best, but every pro that I have heard comment on the NHRA facilities has said that RT 66 is the best one on the tour, bar none.
Another thing that you are wrong about is the fact that RT 66 Raceway is not in Chicago, It is in JOLIET, IL.

Too bad you couldn't make it Sunday Rocky. We got to watch the fastest Pro Stock, Pro Stock Bike & F/C fields in NHRA history. It was cool, so was the weather.

Well, shucks, CH3NO2...I made my point, too...The drag racing numbers out of Joliet speak for themselves. I don't have to say it's the best drag strip in the world again, do I? Those numbers will undoubtedly hold up till next year's event. Hey, it's the center of the universe...right next to it, actually...Hey, did you guys see Jerry? Cheers, WC1
