I had the same situation here, BP...Dustin's Gilder's playlist...the order that he lined those songs up, made for absolute maximum impact...at the end of each song, another one came in that just made me go "Oh...YEAH!" Great job by the man in the booth. He made all the difference between just having a box full of songs and having them all tell a story...Thanks, Dustin!

We're gonna do 1977 next week...Nasty Dave Benjamin's deal where he stood his Monza up on its parachutes at San Antonio after being burned down at the line by John Collins...the picture of that wheelie went worldwide and helped to build his legend. Also, from having looked through my notes, we haven't done 1977 yet. Should be a major hoot, with Paul Candies adding a big kick with his presence on the show. If we hadn't already done 1970, I would have brought that year in...the year Leonard Hughes and Larry Reyes raced in the final at the Gatornationals with their two Plymouth Barracuda Funny Cars...Hughes edged Reyes to take the win/win...

Hope to see you folks there next Monday...meanwhile, the outstanding Wally Bell Show is tomorrow with his crew of Gordy Foust, George Nye, Greg Zyla, Jeff Gilder and guest Ed Rachanski...

Thanks, Gator...2011 had some of the best music ever, but because of the big record companies' shrink-wrap that covered it up in several layers, it was buried underneath a pile of media marketing compost. I was encouraged for the future of modern music by what I found, particularly of the quality and depth of artists such as Alexis P. Suter, Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Muse, The Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. It was mentioned to me by Joe Morrison that the Foo Fighters also were deserving of a feature, and he is correct. That is a great band, but I somehow overlooked their slot for my segment. Thanks, Joe for the tip...they'll be there next time.

Getting back to basics now, with Gordon Collett coming up next, I'm going to feature the music of 1962, which is the first year he is listed as running a Rod Stuckey-chassied hemi AA/D. In his early days, Gordon was apparently a protege of Connie Kalitta. The flyer below is from 1970 when he ran inline hemis in Top Gas (I will ask if that combination was successful). The Photoshopped-in crew chief with a Zeus logo and DragList patch on his shirt overseeing his burnout is noneother than Mike Kloeber, who will also be a guest on the next show. Hope you all can drop in! Looking forward to your show tonight, Wally! I have a feeling it will be one to remember. Thanks, WC1
