That's quite an extensive list of "WORKIN'" songs that John assembled for us... Ya know, often when you sign with a record label, one of the first things that the A&R department starts hounding you about, is for you to write and record a "WORKIN'" song-- or at least a song about making money, because there can never be too many songs about the universal subject of WORK... Hence, the long list of song selections John put together that address the subject... And while some songs dealing with the subject do tend to fall short of spectacular, others have become undeniable "classics" that will be probably be appreciated for many future generations to come... Some of my personal favorites from John's list include: "Workin' In The Coal Mine Lee Dorsey" (also covered by DEVO), "A Hard Day's Night The Beatles" (probably the most PERFECT workin' pop song of all in my humble opinion), "Sixteen Tons Tennessee Ernie Ford" (a baritone vocal blast), "Working Man Rush" (one of RUSH's earliest and best tracks), and "Wichita Lineman Glenn Campbell" (a definite emotionally-charged musical masterpiece from Glenn Campbell)... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Great show, John! I'm still listening to your excellent music at 11:45pm!

Here are my show notes for tonight. Give you all a little peek behind the scenes. As you can see, some things we get to, some things fall by the wayside as the show sometimes takes another direction...

Check out the great shows for the rest of October! bp

Racin & Rocking with is produced and broadcast by the
Zeus Radio Network for Racers Reunion Radio!

Tonight! Ray Godman and Preston Davis of the legendary Tennessee Bo-Weevil

the southern United States (and elsewhere) from 1954 to 1979 with Preston as
the head shoe.

And Joe Morrison, who just won his 6th North East Timing Association Comp
Division event victory in the 2011 NETO season, will describe nostalgia
racing from the sportsman perspective. Joe pilots the COPD Foundation /
Nostalgia Wear 1948 Fiat Topolino Altered.

John Bockelman will take us back to 1972 in another great edition of JB's Picks.

But first...
