Only 16 in each nitro class and pro stock.
Just 22 motorcycles.
And 19 in comp and 22 in super stock.
Poor turnout.

YUP thats the brain trust from Glendora at work. How they came up with the idea of NOT counting a run that passes teck and doesn't cross the center line is beyond me... And ya wonder why there are only 16.

(HINT) ya want the sport to grow?? ..ya got to grow the sport. **ALL RUN in the PRO classes.** Then watch how many cars will show up.

Please tell Rob Passey (TF) and James Day (FC) there were only sixteen cars on the property. They'd love to know this! LMAO!

You folks act like NHRA opens the gates and waits to see how many cars pull through. For the past four years, everybody else knows almost exactly how many cars are going to be at any given event more than a month in advance. Looks like there will be around 375 cars at Sonoma! It's MAGIC! LMAO!

By the way, with HUGE car counts at the THREE different LODRS events going on this weekend, (Epping, NH; Columbus, OH; and Sears Point, CA), I think Denver did pretty darned well in the 2011 lottery. Have any of you been to a racetrack lately? It's not pretty. The deeper we get into 2011, the more it looks like 1975 all over again.

I have been to 2 tracks this year and both were special shows,
not just a regular race day. Both the Cordova and Eddyville events
had good car and spectator counts and the July, 2 event at Eddyville
had 300 sportsman racers from 11 states in addition to the booked
in cars. The Eddyville show also had over 3,000 spectators. On
any Saturday night at Eddyville, the car count is good, but the
spectator count is small.
I had never seen the NHRA event preentry page Bret posted, so thanks
to him for that.

I understand, Al, but I wasn't speaking of special shows. I was talking about weekly events. It's brutal right now...everywhere.

Well, on the good news side from Denver, our
friend Dave Crawford, who's sister and brother in law
we have run around with for over 15 years got his
first national event win, winning super comp.

The thing that amazed me about Bret's link is that there is a quota for national events for how many cars in each class can attend. Did I read that right? Interesting. bp

Bill,

You read that right about the quota in each class it has been that way for years. Last year NHRA try to bend the rules to let some racers in to ensure a full field to which some of the others racers threw a fit. the racers were not let in leaving a short field!

The local races suffering has been a long time coming due to many factors and forces all which rotate around the mighty dollar!
