OK, East Coasters. How did you get through Irene? Are you OK? Any damage? I'll start...

We lost the fence at the side of our house. That's an important one as it's the one that keeps our little Matilda from taking neighboorhood trips every time she goes out to pee...

Another fence survived... my coat hanger temporary fix worked...

Never really lost power... it went off about 30 times last night, but came right back on... just had to time my internet updates...

Other than that, we are in great shape. Condolences to those who lost their lives up and down the coast... eight at last count. bp

Everyone..Everyone? I'm ok here in Newport News. Had a close encounter with a 14 inch limb but it's all good. Weird thing is I never lost power. The peninsula is tore up pretty well.

Yes, had one six foot section of fence that was not going to make it. Next to it was a very solid section. I simply put a wire coat hanger over the three slats of each section... like good NFL defenses, it bent but did not break! My similar efforts on the side of the house were laughed at by Mother Nature. It was laying flat... The wood was so waterlogged it was like moving a limp lasagne noodle this morning... I stuffed it back together for now, but it's just leaning. The home fixit stores are packed today. I'm off tomorrow so I will do something more permnaent tomorrow... I've been spending the day fishing about a garbage bag full of leaves out of our pool... Nice problem to have, though... not complaning. Glad you came through OK, Bandit... not reconsidering the East Coast yet, are ya? :D bp

No, BP. I think I'm here for awhile. I love those storms! (At least now that's it's gone) Katia, (Irene's cousin) is out there brewing up now!
