I admit to always being somewhat of a sucker for pics from Sumerduck... I used to love to see Sumerduck coverage in Becky White's "QUICK TIMES RACING NEWS"... It appears from the pics posted that the VIRGINIA NOSTALGIA CLASSIC featured a wide variety of old-school drag strip machinery... Gassers, Diggers, Floppers, all sorts of stuff, a nice assortment of quality looking cars... Of course I recognized drag racing cyber pioneer Bill Pratt and my good buddy "JAck Approved" Redd among others in the colorful pics... Matt & Robin Stambaugh are just as much the class act as their late great dad Rick "Surf" Stambaugh... After meeting Rick Stambaugh at ETown's Funny Car Reunion a few years back, it was quickly apparent to me that Rick was a racer who genuinely embraced the competitive spirit of the sport ('cause Rick made sure he told me the "stars" that he beat back in the day!), and I know he enjoyed the romance of the Nostalgia Funny Car revival... The surviving Stambaugh siblings did their daddy mighty proud for seeing this event through and making it an actual reality... I applaud them and I offer kudos to all the folks who made the effort to make Sumerduck a quaking success... It's really nice when something this good comes together properly and provides enjoyment for racin' folks... Thanks for posting the pics... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...
Rick "Surf" Stambaugh was a genuine gentleman of a man who embraced & embodied the spirit of old-school Funny Car racing & culture...
... Matt and Robin Stambaugh do their father proud by making Sumerduck's Inaugural Virginia Nostalgia Classic a reality for old-school drag racers and fans to enjoy...
