Good afternoon, everyone! Rainy and dreary here today but I'm home and warm. Did all my official shutdown duties yesterday so my vacation will be extended for at least until next week. Getting a lot of good rest. The shutdown helped with that because I probably would have done a little work on my week off. But we are prevented by law from doing that so relaxation it is!

Hope you all have a great post-Christmas weekend and a great new year! bp

Afternoon Dlisters. It is 55 degrees right now and maybe going higher they say. Not your normal late December weather for sure. Yesterday Sharon and I headed to Cleveland, as I had stated on Thursday, and stopped at the Puritas Nursery and Garden Center. I thought it was for some Christmas decorations but when we stepped in we were greeted with a model train layout that just blew me away. I'm not into trains much but with the model cars and all the houses it was just magical. I collect toy car and trucks of all types from Micro Machines to large scale old metal and aluminum trucks and have a few old gas toy vehicles and they had a bunch of old stuff that had me drooling. I have posted several photos below so don't miss them. The next stop was at Hixson's to look at Christmas ornaments and we were not disappointed at all. This gentleman, now at 89 years young, has helped in decorating at the White House for many of our First Ladies at Christmas. Him and Sharon hit it off from the git go and he even asked her for a hug after she told him of her losing her mother in October. During Christmas dinner we all sat around and talked of the sweets we had when we were growing up so on our way home we stopped at Sweeties Candy Company and bought all those hard to get candies for the family. I even found Oh Henry bars which I love so I bought a bag of minis to freeze and eat when I get the ultimate urge and my sugar count can handle them. Sharon bought several ornaments and many different types of candy so we have already fulfilled our Christmas shopping list for next year. We have had a few special days and the temps are really nice so if we can get some snow (did I just say that ?) and I can try out my new snow blower all will be right with the world and Spring can come any time it wants to as long as it is SOON!

Twas the day after Christmas,
and all thru the land,
everything was sunny,
everything grand.

In shorts & sunglasses,
the ocean we view,
The mountains, the desert,
the cactus too.

As I look to & frow,
In this beautiful land,
Not a flake to be found,
just sunsets & sand.

They said I'd miss winter,
and boy were they wrong.
I'm enjoying the sun,
I'm enjoying the palms.

I hope my little poem,
brought to you a smile,
I would just hate to think,
that I missed by a mile.

I bid you adieu,
My friends &my dears,
and I'm seriously thinking,
I'll do this next year.

Happy New Year to all the DragListerz'.

Cool Photoz' Jack...
$1.76 was the lowest price we saw on our run to Iowa. It's $2.09 here.
Raining all day today, so bringing shelving home from Menards, probably not a goota' idea. I may do that tomorrow, as we're spoz' to have clear skies. Today is a regular sign day as I was given a hot "gotta have it today" job, so I guess the shelving install just wasn't meant to happen today.

We're heading to the see the Kids/Grandkids after everybody gets off work today. That translates to Pizza and an early night for us.

I better get at that sign job, so I can mozzy over to the party in a couple hours. Yup, ended at 9 as I expected. 8)

Afternoon folkz. Zap in the desert? Wondering if he is riding his double hump camel!!!
Well, I'm back from my hiatus from the board. Spent three days in the hospital and came home last night. Early Saturday morning I woke up with a real weird feeling in my chest and by early afternoon it hadn't gone away. I have been having this feeling off and on for some time and when it persisted I told Sharon we better go to the ER. Five hours in the ER and after a call to my family doctor they admitted me to the hospital. They threw everything they had at me with drawn blood, EKG, ECG, injecting radioactive doses, X-rays, CT scans, draw blood, draw some more blood, wake me up every fifteen minutes, poke and probe me, more blood, give me two bags of something in my IV, etc. Found that I had an irregular heart beat so they gave me several pills and sent me home. I got my tuneup for the coming year with plugs, points and a new set of wires... some nitro in the tank too. Finally got to take a shower after three days and felt like a new man. Still have a metallic taste in my mouth but I'm on the mend and ready for a new day. Okay, new year and off we go to the races. Draglist Nats here we come. :D :D :D
