Mornin'. I'll be laborin' on this labor day. I have to change out the brick molding/door jams & weatherstripping on the garage door behind the Camaro, cuz' it's got some tornado knicks & gouges (last door to get updated). That'll make us 100% ready for the siding guys to show up
really hoping that's tomorrow.
I'll spend the rest of the day tearing the deck apart & starting the rebuild. It's 28 years old & has been beat up by flying debris, so it's due for a complete resto job. Hope to have it all done by the time old man winter shows up.
Once the siding guys are done, we'll have to take a break from the deck & redo the landscaping. We pulled out nearly everything the tornado left, so we'll be planting new stuff, cleaning up the lawn, filling in divits & reseeding. A friend of mine has a hydraulic lift trailer we can use and a place to dump, so we're also going to scrape a layer of gravel off the driveways to get rid of glass & debris & then put a fresh coat of C-6 down.
Then it will get cold & the cleanup can start on the inside. We're pretty much living out of boxes now shuffling things from room to room. But, when it's done, we'll appreciate having a normal life again. Seems like a lot of work (well I guess it is), but we're doing a laundry list of things unrelated to the tornado also. You know, things you intend to do someday, but someday never comes? We decided while we're in the cleanup mode, we'd just keep on going & do the honey-do list at the same time.
Time to get to work. This may be about the last day I'll have to work on the house before DLN's X. Cheryl & Jeff are workin' there regular jobs today & I can just plug away on the house at the pace of an old man. I concur with Wheelz', Holiday in DC will be a welcomed break.
