Afternoon. The temp right now is in the mid 90's and starting to rain. The fourth of July party was a good one and we had enough food for everyone in the neighborhood. Well. almost. We had cream of chicken sammiches, oriental salad, cheese, potatoes, several kinds of taters, desserts galore and authentic New York cheesecake. Wow, it is really coming down out there now! I had to have several people help me to put up the canopies to cover the food and people so that nobody got showered on or cooked in the sun. Today we took all the goodies up to the garage in the S 10 and put it away before we husked and cleaned six dozen of corn at 13 a dozen. Later we finally got our stove and put it to work immediately on the corn and broke it in. We baptized the solid glass counter top
too. :D :D :D

Having breakfast as the sun comes up. Getting an early start on the heat. I hope to get the punch list stuff done on the deck today. Then I can stay in the AC while the stain cures in that solar oven out there.

Great idea! Today it's catching up on bills and stuff like that. I did take a leap into the pool to get the day started, so that was good. bp

A splash in the pool sounds goota' BP. It was another hot one today, but it's down to 82°f now. They say it's heading into the 70's. Nice cool breeze outside now.
The deck project is in the books, and with a few days to spare before DLN's. Today I fixed up the gazebo doors, painted all the hinges and latches with por15. Put the downspout on the gazebo and dug a splash stone in the ground under the spout, soz' the rain doesn't dig a hole. Since there's not a lot of roof area, I decided to go with single exhaust. Covered the new screen on the inside with old signs to keep the firewood from polkin' through and to keep the wood dry. Then I walked around the unit and touched up the stain here and there & called it done.
Since it cooled off, I gave the lawn a haircut. Problee' give it one more just before we head out on the highway next week.

Looks great, Gary! One more splash in the pool this morning to kick off my last vacation day. Back to work tomorrow (for three days only, thanks to the DLNs!) bp

Thanks BP, glad it's done. Mornin'. 74.8°f and sunny to start the week. I have just 1 sign job today, as long as the phone doesn't ring. I 'hink I'll spend the day cleaning up the shop & office. Then tonight the Kids/Grandkids are coming over for a visit. Weather people say it'll be cooler this week. Even Alexandria, PA shows a 10% chance of rain Saturday, with 84°f for a high.

Sounds great, Gary! We had crazy weather in DC and Maryland today. Flooding. But got home safely and we are drying out the family room carpet. Part of our deal, living in what was essentially swampland 40 years ago! bp

I was wondering about you guys, saw the flooding on the internet news tonight.

Ethan & Jaden brought their folks over for pizza tonight, heading back home now. They're standing by the oak tree that Ethan brought to us from school the year we were hit with the tornado. Poor tree was eaten by varmints a couple times. Then I set the plastic pail over it and it was doing pretty good until we got a wind storm. Pail blew away and the varmints were right there to chew it down to a stub again. Then I drove stakes through the pail and the tree began to grow. Then the varmints ate the leaves that were sticking up above the pail. So, that's why there's chicken wire on the top of the pail. We're hoping it's big enough now that it'll finally take off. It's doubled in size this year so far. Won't be long and it will out pace those growing Grandsons.

Evening folkz. We had good intentions of going to the church to weed the flower beds but got up late and Sharon called the doctor's about the rash she has on her forearms and so we had to go there and I went to rehab for another time and dropped off my papers while she was in the examination room. We ate breakfast at Mickey D's then headed over to the church. By the time we got done with the front and the back it was cooking hot and almost put me down. Whew! We headed back to the house and into the AC in time to get some relief. Sharon took me out for dinner in Canton at the Olive Garden and that made the day for us. :D :D :D
