All my friends are dying. Jeff was originally from this area. Part of Velde Ford in Pekin, IL. Jeff was a great Super Stock racer before he went Pro Stock. I ran him in a Run Tuff Operation Drag Racer --3 way final-- at Oswego, IL. dragway with my Big Animal in 1973. 
In more recent years I saw Jeff at IHRA and NHRA Nats. with his 428 Shelby running stock.By himself and a small tag trailer. Just having fun.
Back in 94 I was booked with my WunderBird to run Sox at Moroso's Fun Ford just before Halloween. Sox and I also had a contract after Moroso to run Carolina Dragway the next weekend. Jeff Velde got wind I was coming and hired me to display at his Ford dealership in Vero Beach the Monday after Moroso. Monday was also Halloween. Then Jeff and his wife had Al and I stay overnight at his home .They entertained and fed us.
