Old School Drag Racing is Alive and Well...

Postby Diana The Doc » Mon Jul 29, 2013 7:05 am

Hey folks... Just wanted to check in and remind everyone that the nostalgia scene in the northeast is alive and well... Despite rather dreadful weather reports for this past weekend's (Saturday & Sunday's) NY NATL SPEEDWAY REUNION and OLD TIME DRAGS/FUNNY CAR REUNION events, an extremely healthy crowd showed up at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park... And yes, we did experience some raindrops on Sunday, but that didn't put much of a damper of peoples' spirits... Lots of folks who read my blog were nice enough to approach me and say hello and show their appreciation for my blog and the work I do-- I really appreciate YOU for being there for me... I want to express a huge THANK YOU to ALL the racers, fans, vendors, along with Walter Frey and the entire Raceway Park staff for making it a weekend that many of us will never forget... I ask that we all work together to keep the nostalgia drag racing scene strong throughout the whole nation!!... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Yours truly showing off my Willie Johnson "NO MONEY NO FUNNY" Funny Car t-shirt. I was glad to see good friends like Willie and so many of you great nostalgia oriented folks this past weekend at Raceway Park. We all had an absolute blast!!

That's great, Diana. I could not get to E-town as my wife was out of town and I needed to dog sit our pooch, but MIR was only 25 miles away and I caught some of the XDRL action there. Nice Willie Johnson shirt! bp

I have to agree with Jack's sentiment. Things are so very slow on this board except for the Good Morning post, so let's have the blogs again, if you feel like posting them. I am two minutes away from tossing everything together into one big section... bp

I believe Old School drag racing is alive in many other parts of the country right now.

I sell contingency decals to many racers in the North and South Carolina area who tell me the car counts continue to increase with every show they put on.

Rules are simple you must run a car from the 60's only and no electronics are allowed with just a few exceptions.

What they want is the cars to be just like they were in the 60's and their biggest problem right now trying to figure out how to control the rapid growth of this very popular form of drag racing.

Bill & Jack, I understand you guys not making the E'Town show this year, and I still appreciate your obvious support for the event... Hope you see you there next time... As far as posting blogs again here at DragList, I'd be glad to do some of that on occasion... Although I admit that with the recent amount of Big Stick related recording work of late, there's a lot less time available to spend on drag racing stuff, as a matter of fact, John's trying to talk me into "retiring" the drag racing thing and just do the music and art sort of stuff-- Needless to say, I'm not too thrilled with that idea... It's still my opinion that DragList remains as one of the drag racing internet's most reasonable, "level headed" and "blowhard free" of all the drag sites... Anyways... I'll post some blog stuff here... Jimbo, you're right, old school drag racing is alive and well across America, and if more folks would actually get out from the confines of their computer desk, open the door, walk outside into the light, and actually attend the events, they'd get to see that for themselves... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Here's another pic from this past weekend's OLD TIME DRAGS at E'Town... It's the "TASMANIAN DEVIL" Fuel Altered...
