Norwalk was a blast, a tuning challenge, but a lot of fun!

We entered in the NDRL 7.0 pro class, which is a 7.0 1/4 mile index class. Of course going in we hadn't run the car in a 1/4, so had no idea what it was going to do. The good news is that it handles really well. The bad news is it likes to go really fast

Friday we had 2 qualifying rounds. The first round Steve forgot to turn on the control power and had no trans brake, and no automatic shifting. He ended up foot braking it and manually shifted once, running on the rev limiter most of the way. He finally realized what was wrong after he pulled off and went to shut everything off  It managed a 7.23 despite all that, which turned out to be our best qualifying time...

The second round we decided to leave it alone and run it through to see where we were, we knew it would be too fast, but what the heck... We did set the shift points down to a ridiculously low 6500, from the line it just sounded like a deep growl as it ran through the gears. It ran a 6.67 @ 207   Ok, it was a lot too fast.

Saturday we were to have another 2 qualifiers, but woke to rain. The always optimistic Bill Bader promised that it would clear up even though the weather on all our phones disagreed. Bader came through and it cleared up early afternoon, too late for the early round but we were able to get the late round in. We weren't sure what it was going to take to tame the beast, so we threw everything at it. We dropped the blower overdrive, took a bunch of timing out and left the fuel where it was so it would be really fat. The beast can be tamed: it ran a 7.73  Ok, now it's a lot too slow...

So now we were down to the first round of eliminations on Sunday. We decided to leave the blower down and put half the timing back into it and took some fuel away. We broke out first round with a 6.86 @ 204. We were done for the weekend, but it's a lot closer now for tweaking's sake.

After the 6.67 run Steve said, "ok that was cool, but I'm not sure I need to do that again" :D
