Late Sunday a.m.
Heading to the track for t-n-t
Towing an earlier version of the car in my avatar with a '65 Econoline van, (inline 6 banger...3 on the tree) on my open trailer.
As I was going through this one little ol' town....(grand total of 2 stop lights)....I found myself in between those lights, with the second one turning yella............
I stepped on the brakes......nuttin' happened....
I stepped Harder on the brakes.....still nuttin' happened...(the trailer w/car was heavier than the van  .....
then I literally STOOD on the brake pedal and yanked the shifter into low gear........I "finally" got things to whoa right in the middle of the intersection......and looked to my right....where a State Trooper was laughing his backside off at my plight........I sat down and shrugged my shoulders towards him.....and he just waved me on through the light....  (jeez, I miss that little ol' van.... )

Similar to Billy's experience.

Towing the car to the track a couple of years ago with the previous motorhome. Cruisin right along, it was a rather hot day, just as we come over a hill the traffic starts to slow down, so I touch the brakes and they felt a little funny. After the third time pushing the brake pedal, I quickly noticed that the pedal was going to the floor. Not to alarm my wife, I casually reached down and moved the little trailer brake lever and managed to avoid a rather messy outcome. By the time we crested the next hill, the brake fluid had cooled off enough so I got the pedal back and it never happened again. I never said a word till we got home that weekend. Thank God for trailer brakes.

If my wife ever knew we were riding along in traffic without any brakes, while towing 8000lbs behind us, she would have flipped out!!!

Way back in the 70's, Cheryl and I picked up a load of railroad ties to do some landscaping. We drove our old '66 Chebbie P.U. 20 or 30 miles down the road, loaded it up and drove back home with no hydrrolic brakes. I used the emergency brake by pullin' on the release while braking so it wouldn't lock. Thing is, I knew about the brakes B4 we left.    Never even gave a thought to all the stuff that could have gone wrong.

BTW: we didn't drive real fast...... cuz' we also had no 3rd gear in the ol' manual 3 spd. @ the time. :D :D
