Sometime in the early 70s at Osweo IL. -We back the Big Animal Run Tuff car off our open trailer. Snap top cans had just come into vogue. One of my front Moroso tires picked up one of those tabs and flattened it.
It was stuck on a bias just above the thread in the side wall.
So now it needs a patch inside or a tube. I take wheel off and run to the little gas station down Rt.34. The young Sunday help there is a dim bulb-but he lets me do my thing and has plenty of tire repair materials. He was dazzled when after I glued the patch inside the tire and coated it with glue and set it on fire to vulcanize it. I thought he was going to climax!! LOL
Actually the day did turn out good. I won Run Tuff Eliminator against my arch rival and friend Brian Kobalinski driving his "Dollar After Dollar" Nova and went into the points lead.
Brian & I in those days was like Kuhlmann and I in UDRA/USSC 87.88 and 89. We were in many finals together.
