I know we're either watching Maple Grove or the Bears on TV right now, but I just remembered a story a buddy of mine's dad told me a long time ago. He and my Dad met when they were standing in line to join the Marines in WWII...when this guy was in high school, he was a football star. He was an all-state quarterback on the team in East Texas and he had college offers that he turned down to join the Marines the day after he finished high school. My Dad had also graduated from high school the day before they met in line...His name was Billie Joe Agan. He said he was playing a game against a small high school from his district, and all during the game, their defensive end, a tall, lanky kid, terrorized him. He didn't just tackle him, he brutalized him on the hit. Beat the bleep out of him. His offensive line couldn't contain this guy; he was right in his face on every play. Finally, after he'd been sacked for the umpteenth time, the big guy got off of him and when he pulled himself to his feet, he asked him:..."What's your name, boy? You're killin' me back here!" The big guy turned around and said two words..."Tom Landry."
Cheers. WC1
