Former Titans and Ravens QB. 36 years old, died of gunshot wound.

Very sad to learn of this. He was a community guy; he gave back. When he was in Houston briefly as the heir to Warren Moon's Oilers, he got involved in community service as soon as he got here, always taking the lower-profile stuff that didn't necessarily blow up his image on a PR agenda. He was down in the 'hood, sweating and working to help people without cameras on him. Word just got around that he was doing it. Randolph told me about Steve McNair when I worked for him in 2005. Everybody knew Steve. He was a major presence on the South Side. He worked with kids in summer camps and organizations and very quickly developed into a great NFL quarterback. I'm just sorry his life ended like this and so early in his life. What a shame. Like ProZ said, details will be forthcoming, probably more than I'd want to know, but regardless of the circumstances, he will be missed, by me as well. I always liked him for what he did for disadvantaged folks and kids. WC1

Sad way for a great sports figure and genuinely good person to go.
He was well loved up this way by Ravens and Redskin fans alike and of course revered in TN.
We all have human frailties and appears that this may have been his downfall.

RIP.
