I've never been much of a baseball fan but Kirby was a true baseball player. He showed up, he played hard and didn't blow his own horn like the prima donnas of today do. I was sad when I heard that he had to retire from baseball because of the blindness in his one eye. But I thought that he would be a good coach/mentor to the upcoming youngsters. And now this............. Rest in peace my friend, you'll be missed by all that knew you and all that loved to watch you play.

Amen to all. Kirby Puckett came up from the most disadvantaged of backgrounds to conquer the world as a member of a great baseball team. His size, which was also considered to be a hindrance, became one of his greatest assets in his playing days, as he used it to his advantage in strategic situations. Everybody that played with him loved him for his positive attitude and upbeat way of handling pressure. I hope people remember him and his story 70 years from now when ball players will all be making billions of dollars, stand 8 feet tall and hit 120 homers a season...Kirby Puckett is in the Hall of Fame, and he is an all-time hero of the game and of life.
