Big Willy Robinson RIP

Big Willy Robinson, who with his late wife Tomika, spear headed the Brotherhood of Street Racers just passed away. Though I never met him, nor attended any of those events affiliated with him, I found him to be a postive force in the world of automotive sport and car culture. He gained prominence in the late 60's, early 70's by being able to break down barriers based on color, race, and creed by promoting and nuturing one commonality that bonded many-hot rods. Though controversial, he was no less legitimate than the NHRA Safety Safari from some 20 years before. I believe he was felled by diabetes while spending his remaining days in a Los Angeles based hospice.
