Dennis Syrmis

One of the true giants in Australian Drag Racing, Dennis Syrmis passed away on December 1. I was proud to meet Dennis at Willowbank Raceway when Victor Bray invited me down to their Winternationals in 1999. I was completely blown away by the Willowbank Raceway he had built with his wife Sue. It was first class all the way with many features I had never seen at ANY American strip. Dennis wrote his own timing system that automatically posted the results online. He was very welcoming and a real pleasure to talk to. There will be many memorials online. Worth reading them all. Condolences to Sue, to Dennis's family and friends, and to all our Australian drag racing brothers and sisters. bp
