This is the Wikipedia link, BP, but it doesn't do him justice. Right now there are a lot of websites for him but he didn't have his own website that I could find. Arthur Lee founded Love, the LA psychedelic rock/soul/folk band that took progressive rock 'n roll to undreamed of heights. Their Top 40 hit at the time (1967) was "My Little Red Book", but that song was just a teaser for the incredible flow of shining, swirling music that would follow. I have all of Love's albums and they created a body of work that is unmatched in scope, breadth, musicianship and imagination. Their output as the original group back then, were a series of orchestrated, improvised and lyrically superior material, worked up when they all lived together in a mansion in Hollywood that was used as a haunted house in B movies. Arthur Lee made a solo album called "Vindicator" which featured Jimi Hendrix and allowed him the page to fill that he rightfully could have had once a year for his whole life. Like I said before, I collected vinyl albums and if he has anything out since then, I didn't buy it. Need to update my musical collection in that sense. I haven't checked to see if he's in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, but if he's not, it's an injustice. Arthur Lee was something special. Not in terms of record sales, big-time arena shows, or even as a social stereotypical hippie, but as a creator of beautiful music and a brutally honest spokesperson for the dark side of the Hollywood Dream and the California myth. He was Brian Wilson's evil twin. I hope he has at last found the peace he so desperately sought in this life but always ended up with it handed to him as a plate full of trouble. Thanks, Arthur Lee. You spoke the truth all the way. Thanks for the post, coffee! WC1
