8) Being a 56 model myself (dec 15) I have loved the cars and have a bunch of stuff regarding 56 chevys hanging in the shop.. mostly prints cut from national geographic magazine pages... when i was 15 and pumping gas at my dad's texaco one of the mechanics drove a blue one to work every day.. he would let me drive it around the lot (we both worked the night shift) i think it was just a 283 4 sp heap but it felt good to go to me at that age...

Well…it has been a long weekend and it’s time for an update.

This update starts out at the doctor’s office. No I wasn’t sick, I was getting a physical and EEG(EKG, etc…? Heart) check so that I could get my NHRA Competition License.

Talk about the joy of getting poked, prodded and the ever popular “turn your head and cough” treatment, plus it just ain’t right giving a “pee specimen”… Perhaps I am just a wimp…?

Anywho, with 20/20 vision (when my eyes are open) and a clean bill of health, the doctor signed off on my physical application. Oddly the NHRA doesn’t require a psychological analysis before getting a license or I surely would have …

That was a few months ago and finally it was time for me to strap my carcass into the Hot Rod for some licensing/test passes…. Here is the recap of my weekend~!

This update starts on Tuesday, after fighting a week of the flu (or was it food poisoning) a worn out EDB and Tiffany headed to Montezuma Saturday morning to meet up with his mom & dad (the team owners) to pick up the Hot Rod and head to Eddyville for the rest of his licensing passes. The weather forecast had improved from an 80% chance of rain to only 20% and things were looking up. I knew it was going to be a long, hot day with 90% humidity and a high in the mid 90s.

We arrived at the track around 10 and started to setup our pit over in the Pro area close to the Nitemare team who we were to help as we could. Roger Stanke also pitted his Blown Alcohol FED over in this area.

Update time…

This weekend the 1956 Modified/Outlaw was left at home in the trailer as I had to work on the Top Fuel car.

Dan & Joanie did all of the maintenance and work on the car between the Drag List Nationals and this weekend and had everything ready to go when I showed up Friday afternoon. Since all was ready to go we decided to head over to A-Team and pick up the new Nitemare Racing shirts. They did a fantastic job on the artwork and I think the shirts look awesome!
