I didn't bring my camera to Shreveport...I forgot...I would have taken before and after pictures of George. We refurbished a deck lid and put it on (the new rear apron Bert ordered from the guy in Bossier City never did show up...that guy does NOT have his act together at all...I went there and saw the whole place in disarray and I knew there was no way that deal would happen when it was supposed to...Bert doesn't use the internet or use toll-free lines so he didn't order it direct and here's what happened), anyway, we painted it a semi-gloss black and I ran a strip of reflective tape (like 18-wheelers use) across the top of it. Also added new Nerf bars. It's rat-rod, but it's functional. There are alignment issues with the deck lid going back to when I got hit. It bent the hinges inside that are attached to the body, and there's a half-inch gap on the right side of it. A little fiddling by a couple of Phantom Kruisers will rectify that situation when we all get together one of these days.
In 1969, I painted my '62 Beetle ("Olive") red white and blue with stars and stripes. It was a party on wheelz. After I returned from Shreveport I sat down and did George in Photoshop the same way Olive was painted. I like it. It looks right to me. I remember how I did it and it came out great. Here are the 2 versions I made of George in Photoshop. Enjoy! WC1
