Scary ?

Postby go300mph » Thu May 22, 2008 8:20 am

Scary ? this from a girl who drives a flopper? why do they call them floppers? :D cause they flop over on their tops from time to time?
Jets are tame, entirely different to drive but I was raised in them and don't know any better. You short wheel base funny cars are what are scary. "Here let me drop this body down over you, there ! now your trapped, how does that feel , cozy? " I think a bit claustrophobic, sheeze, scary?
And anyway I have air conditioning, when that turbine is the pulling air through my fire suit.

Jet crashes

Postby Danny White » Thu May 22, 2008 9:35 am

I have to say Jet crashes are scarier than funny car crashes. I guess when funny cars crash they absorb more energy and have that whole compression breaking thing going on. The jet crashes I seen in person and on TV have been out there due to the violent nature of the vechicle being tossed around like rag doll.

Toby Ehermtraut (sic) was taking about drving jets and said you can become too relaxed and when something happens you might not be ready in time. Mike Hojacki has related the same thing too in having close calls. Most of the problems occur at the finish line it seems at the time just before and after the chute is suppossed to deploy. Plus they said dont hit the breaks too hard.

A couple of years ago when there were three jet dragster fatalites on three different continents. There were similar things in common, all the drivers were inexperienced and all had accidents in the shutdown area.

naw, they're funny car's NACHO CHEESE

Honestly, I had a really hard time in a dragster, grew up with the flops, so like you, that's my comfort zone. The dragster's, jet or not, kind of spin my stomach around, go figure :-)

Jet Floppers vs Jet dragsters

Postby go300mph » Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:05 am

Ok there is this 16,000 rpm cheese grater under your arm pit then they pull the body down over you or as i perfer to call it, the plastic casket. I can't focus i can only plan my escape vs. behind you . Hmmm, i know all the reports show the turbines just don't grenade well at least some models (mine included) anyways both beat the old style ACME front engine jet cars like Wiley used to drive.
