DragList Calendar

Postby WildcatOne » Sun Jan 04, 2009 8:57 pm

I thought it best to move this thread from "PCTalent Images" to a new one so we can put this thing together in one place...we're talking about making a calendar for this year...the calendar in the center surrounded by pictures of our cars...the criteria is common sense...the cars have to be in good running shape, be certified and racing this year, be a member's ride, and the photos that are submitted must be of good viewable quality and be approved for use by the owner. BP, if you have anything to add to this, go ahead and post it up, man. I'll fix up a calendar as soon as I have all the pics together. Let's make the cut-off date one week from today, January 11. Any suggestions, let me know! Cheers, WC1

WC I take it this will be a one page deal like a poster? 11''x17''? or?
I'm ready to buy one.

I think it will be 12" X 18" or maybe larger; I will check and see what the print limit is on our new iGen Creo copier...BP'll set the price, we'll ask my boss about the deal...cool, ProZ! WC1

I am in. I will send a couple of photos to WC to choose from.

I am not driving the Nanook in 09, but have no problem with it being on the calender with an 08 photo of me driving it.

WC, I only scanned your list, but make sure to get a photo of Nancy's Funnycar on there as well.

Thanks, Randy. Great idea. That brings up an inevitable thing that we should get out in the open right away. I don't know how many spots Cat will be able to fill on the calendar, so if it's 12, there will likely be a 13th, 14th, 15th car that won't make it, etc. John and I will discuss this, but my thoughts are that we will decide who gets on the poster based on a combination of things, including the attractiveness of the car in the shot, the quality of the shot, how well the car might play to a non-member (we'd like to get a few of these calendars out in other folks' hands, too), and last but not least, how long and how fully the subject of the shot has participated at draglist.com. The potential choices are numerous and I promise that John and I will do our level best to make the right ones based on the combination of factors. Of course, anybody who does not make this one will be considered first for 2010, etc. Let's see how this one goes. Thanks. bp

Cat & bp,
Let me know if I have anything that would be of use for your project. I have a few shots of "Rapid" in Danny's hot rod from the March Meet, 2008...

Pete I like the ones that you have which show the Bakersfield signs. You guys use whatever you would like to. I just thought the shots coming from Pete would be kinda cool like a combined Draglist deal. 8)

Plus I think, that unless you need the extra photo, that we should stick with 1-shot of me in Danny's car, and not take up extra space by including 2-different cars. JMO

Thanks, Pete. That's great because that takes one more thing out of the equation (getting photographer permission). bp

Just got here, Pete, I had the thought of downloading one of your shots from Bakersfield of Rapid burning out in Danny's Maverick...I didn't know you were not going to drive Nanook in '09, Rapid, although I love the car and what you did with it in '08, that might put Nanook on hold depending on how many folks get in, but I can certainly fit it in if needs be...by the way, BP and all, the number 12 was arbitrary and I can expand this calendar to accommodate as many cars as we can get in there.

BP's appended criteria is most astute, and let's all work towards that goal. I have Nancy on the list. I'd like to put a good shot of Zeke in there. I would also like to include in a small text somewhere in each picture, the person's name, hometown, the car and the class it runs in...this won't take long to make, but my goal is to make it very nice...

BP, I talked to Buddy this morning at GRI. The size limit of our iGen Creo copier (state of the art stuff) is 13" X 20". I could make the calendars to a size of 12" X 19" and have a half-inch white border all the way around. We can easily fill this thing up, just gotta get folks to see this thread and respond...

HEY! LOOK HERE! You want on a drag racing calendar? Then REPLY NOW!!!!

Cheers, WC1
