Do you have a stock floor/ roll bar or roll cage?

If you want to race it the rules say you have to bolt it to the frame or cross member in 4 places & one brace from the back of the seat to the roll cage. Bolts have to have washers. I think you can bolt it to the floor if you weld 3/16'' plates to the floor for the bolts. I've seen people weld a plate to the rocker panel and another to the trans. tunnel and run tubing under the seat welded to those plates & bolt the seat to that. I don't have a floor in mine, but you could put tubes under your seat like this and weld them to plates on the rocker panel & the trans. tunnel like I mentioned above. You can see the bolt for the back of the seat just under the opening for the harness. You could also mount the seats to adjustable rails (BUT THEY BOTH HAVE TO HAVE A LOCK MECHANISM TO BE LEGAL). Then you'd have to make the back brace adjustable also. My first plan was to use the adjustable rails but I have no headroom so I had to eliminate them.

seat brackets

Postby camaro29697 » Thu Feb 05, 2009 1:34 am

i was hoping someone may have phots of using factory holes in floor, with some fabricated brackets for seats. already knew they would have to be connected to rollbar behind seat. have seen 3/16 flat bar welded to floor with studs through floor bolted to seats. didn't know if this was enough. i can only run certain tracks locally, but want to go to differnt tracks and run some pro tree races, and pass tech.

Contact your local tech. Best way to make sure it will pass is to get your advice from the guy who will be inspecting it.
