CHRR ACTIVITIES

Postby thunderlungs » Fri Sep 25, 2009 2:26 pm

In addition to helping Mike English and Bob Frey announce the racing action at CHRR, I will be conducting appraisal inspections there. Our work begins Thursday afternoon with Roger "Riceman" Lee's newly completed full-size dragster.

Appraising race vehicles or specialty cars (street rods, customs, etc.) requires a very detailed inspection process. Therefore reserved appointments are necessary. If you'd like to have the car you're taking to Bakersfiled for the CHRR appraised, please contact me off-group.

To preview our work go to www.cacklefest.com and click-on "How Safe?"
in the headline. Samples of a report are accessible at the page bottom.

Have a great race, Jon. Again, my work is interfering with some early Monday 'can't miss' appointments that will keep me on the East Coast... I'll get back out there one day! bp

That's Interesting to have an appraisel done on a car.

Is this specifically for the older stuff or does it apply to current rods and rides as well?

Nancy:

Glad you raised the "why do this?" question.

Consider the value appraisal a race car's birth certificate (i.e. it exists, it's unique, it has worth and here's why). And that serves true for the newest and oldest. Every unique, exotic, historic and race vehicle should be appraised for value upon completion. Why? Because beyond receipts for what you spent, there really is no other credible documentation of what you've created.

And if "life" or the unthinkable should happen (e.g. a destructive accident or theft) at some point, some person will ask you this question, "what can you present that objectively declares your car's value, pre-incident?"
Should that person have control over either settling your loss claim or recovering the property - and all you've got are receipts - you lose!

Lacking this your car's value "engine" is held together with Carriage Bolts.

Hope that answers your question. May I be of service?

Sounds like a great service that should probably be applied to all things of value. But Jon would be one of the few who could do this service justice in hot rodding and drag racing. bp

There were more race cars in the Bakersfield pits this weekend than for any other event in the track's 50-year HISTORY!

73 CARS participated in the "Cacklefest". A few programming glitches here but it took 30 minutes for the burnt Nitro to dissipate.

Guys from "BangShift.com" fed the I-net live streaming video all 3 days and everybody I've talked to says the results were great. They're gonna do the 2010 March Meet next.

Got to share "Cacklefest" car intros with Bob Frey on Saturday night. What a great talent that guy has/is! A real pleasure.

Also got to play with my two GREAT Grandsons on Sunday. Following an hour of that, this old man's "rods" were definitely hangin' outa the block!

Life is really good.
