Oh I hacked........

I had a couple vac leaks when I put the P.U. back together. A couple lines were a lil' brittle. go figure. Last time they were touched was on the assembly line in '92. Bad news was everything was closed for the weekend around here by the time I found I needed new ones. Got an 1/8" line by snippin' about 6" off the end of my vac gage hose. {I really believe it was too long Ann E. Way} Then the PCV line broke. Patched that up by cuttin' a pc. of hose off an old air hose. Then...... the wire harness plug that plugs into the throttle body crumbled in my hand. I tried plugin' it in Ann E. Way and taping it together. I had it runnin' fine in the shop, but when I went to SubWay® it ran like a diesel. Looks like it's stayin' in the garage til' Monday when the parts store opens. But hey, at least it doesn't leak anti- freeze now.

While I was waitin' for the JB weld to set up I thought I'd push the "Z" outside since it's a fairly decent day to give the shop a quick clean-up. I couldn't leave it out there without takin' a few pics.

that was totaly worth waith for the pics to download even with my super slow dial up.

Little more progress.

The edge of the fiberglass dash was wavy, had some flaws & needed to be the same thickness as the original padded dash. So, I ripped some signboard & glassed it to the inside edge of the dash.

I used painters plastic (thin stuff) as a release.

I laid a thick bead of "kitty Hair' fiberglass filler along the mounting flange.

Screwed the dash back in place so the bead would conform to the groove to make a new form fitting edge on the dash

Trimmed the excess glass & plastic off when it started to set up, and let it set overnight so it would hold it's new shape.

With a little finish work the new dash should fit much better.
