7.65 early shutoff STATEMENT MADE!

Postby Wild Driver » Sat Sep 30, 2006 7:52 pm

The team of Denis, Carter & Morrison impressed today by laying down an off - the - trailer 7.65/151 early shutoff at @1000 ft. as this was a licensing run for me which called for a moderate run. Lee Carter made the right calls and turned the right screws that sent me down quite a good deal quicker than my previous best 5.50 1/8th 8.90 quarter. The 60 ft. was 1.07, 1/8 mile was 4.79/142 MPH. We only got two runs in and the second was an 8.30 with the car needing more fuel this time and falling off what was supposed to be a full pass but with the motor breaking up was aborted. Second run the car was skating all over the place, the tower said I nearly took out the cones as did Ken Gonyo who ran after me, during the run I was thinking to myself I know I'm using up ALOT more track than ever before as the track was hot and greasy, I could stay in it but if I do is this how cars are wrecked? Well it started shooting ducks a little anyway so I gave it a quick pedal and it straightened right out and charged again. The tower said it was a little over center. Lee said it wasn't all that bad. I like Lee's style. One thing for sure it was WILD. I have to add, had a .417 light on both runs. Pure and simple as Ken Gonyo said "that car will run 6.90's if you want it". Well
not at DCFC events with the F/C body on it but at other open events? That's up to Bob. I'm more than willing and I know Lee will be happy to accommodate!

There were four blown alky altereds cars in attendance including ours . Matt Gilmore was there ran a 6.20 - something - one pass and went home. Now THAT's a statement. Don't know what Ken Gonyo ran, another group ran with a real nice looking '23 T blown BBC which ran a 7.20/180+ twice! They want to run with DCFC as well. Thing with them is they were running S/Comp and got bored. They are having way more fun now and have no problem getting people to go to the races with them now. Alot more attention at the track, too. We all appreciate the nice comments the other guys gave us for our efforts as well. It really means alot.

All said it was a great day we all had fun and I can't say thankyou enough again to the Denis's, Lee and his freind Ed, my son and our buddy Cody Brunelle and support from my wife. I cannot get this grin off my face!

My parts should be in from Spud any day now, wait til "Secret Weapon" gets ahold of this one. Bob I really like that nickname "Fast Kid" - I hope it sticks it makes me feel young LOL. - Eric

Great report Eric. Congrats on getting one lap of the license runs in! If you can get the old heap to run straight it will really fly for you.

Nice job! 8)

Great job, Eric. Sounds like a super event. Be sure that all your DFC guys are on the drag lists for each year they ran. bp
