Draglist Low ET Awards for Eddyville Quick 8s

Postby draglist » Sat Jul 14, 2007 11:08 am

In speaking with Gerald last night, I told him I wanted to do a little something to thank the racers for sharing their track with us today. Gerald mentioned his Quick 8 programs, one for open wheel cars and one for doorslammers. That's right up our alley!

Today Draglist.com will pay a $100 bonus to the Low Qualifer in each of these categories in memory of two of our members who can't be here, one experiencing a super high this weekend (Wally Bell -- congrats at York!) and one experiencing an incredibly frustrating day trying to get here (John Bockelman -- WildcatOne).

The announcements of the awards will be broadcast today as follows:

The Low ET of the Quick 8 Dragsters/Altereds will receive the $100 John Bockelman Low ET Award, presented by Draglist.com

The Low ET of the Quick 8 Doorslammers will receive the $100 Wally Bell Low ET Award, presented, presented by Draglist.com

We are missing EVERYONE of course, but our hearts soar when we think of Wally winning a York US 30 Legends award, and our hearts drop when we know our pal WildcatOne was so close, but the state of modern air travel and customer (dis)service combined to blow his engine right before the finish line.

We'll be taking the laptop to the track. If this old beater will keep a charge, we'll be sending updates from there. Otherwise, look out for a flood of info tonight! bp

LMAO .. we all know what happens once y'all get there .. same as last year .. a GREAT time had by all and the updates will arrive tonight!

bp .. what an outstanding outreach to the racing community. I sincerely hope that the good people of Eddyville Raceway Park realize how much we appreciate their hospitality. And, you couldn't have chosen two more upstanding individuals from our family to be represented.

Bill Pratt, you are a class act.
Of course, all of us here already know that, but I wanted to print it out.

Thanks, everyone. It was my honor. I have to say that the Low ET awards were very well received and 17 additional super fast Midwest machines now sport draglist decals. We announced the deal early in the day and the fast cars were gunning for the prizes. I was honored to be able to detail our awards as described in the top entry in this post. Iowa Al, Jerry Gilles, and all the Draglist Dudes (from about 8 to 16) joined us as we first announced the winners from the tower, then went and found the racers who won and presented them with their prizes. Look for Al Booton photos soon. For now, I'll report the winners as follows:

The $100 John Bockelman Low ET Award went to Jerrod Micetich who fired off an outstanding 4.167 ET in his blown alcohol dragster.

The $100 Wally Bell Low ET Award went to Erik Carlson, who ventured all the way from Geneseo, IL, with his awesome "Vulgar Display of Power" '63 Chevy, who went 5.063 to claim the prize.

Congrats to both racers and thanks to Cat and Wally for guiding our hands today with their spirits. bp
