Got the silver caah back on the road. I think Jeff will have to replace the left side brake hose too. there is a big difference in pedal between bleeding the new hose "open" right side & the old hose left side. But, it got him to work for now. Jeff's next day off is Friday. Problem is I have a full week scheduled so I don't know if I'll B able to do any welding on the rear end. We'll git-er-done sooner or later though.

That's good that Jeff has the '85 back on the road, the race car can be done in good time...that is a gorgeous car...the new piece will no doubt make big voodoo when it's all in place. Cheers, WC1

What gear ratio did you get for the Camaro?
That Fast Eddie Dart has a 5.38 in it. Winds that 498 ci hemi up.

Jeff went with a 4.30. It'll only add about 70 rpm to the highway drivin' but should give him a little more grunt off the line.

I've been considering a second center section with a 5.xx gear just for 1/8 mile stuff, but I don't know if it's worth the 1g it would take to have a spare hogs head sitting around. Haven't mentioned it to Jeff either. Maybe he'll get the bug to do that some day.

While Jeff was at work this afternoon I did some of the fab work on the housing. The axle tubes are bigger than the ol' 10 bolt. The new clamps barely fit the slots in the bushing. I figured I'd weld some gussets on the deal to stiffen them up some. Proble' not necessary but I feel better.
The ears on the Edelbrock torque arm bracket weren't deep enough for the mounting bolt holes to line up. And there wasn't much material around the rear holes either so I cut 'em off and made beefier ears.
Tomorrow is Jeff's day off so he's gonna' install the housing to see how everything fits and too figure out exactly where the torsion bar brackets should be. And to see where to put stuff like brake line brackets, housing vent & tabs for the tie downs.
