We got back from the Moonlight tour around midnight give or take. Dumped the chips, charged the batteries, ready for another day. The only downside is there's way more to see & do than there's time to see & Do it. Might have to give it another go next year? Such a problem to have.

We're in Montpelier, OH @ the Ramada. Just waitin' around for the troops to get ready. Looks like about a 7 hr. trip to Gettysburg so we need to make tracks.
I wish I knew you were coming to Gettysburg, that's not far from me.

Sorry we missed you Pappy, Maybe next year. Glad you had a safe trip T. We're at a Wingate in Streetsboro OH.

Friday we toured Arlington National Cemetery. While passing by on the trolly I got this snap shot of the Flight 93 Pilot's grave site.

Today on our trip home we stopped at the Flight 93 National Memorial

Still under construction, but it is already impressive. This is the long walkway to the Memorial Wall.

As you make your way up the long walkway, off to you left is the crash site, marked by a large stone decorated with flowers. Hard to see off in the distance with prairie grass growing up around it. This was taken with a 500mm lens, so you can get an idea how far off it is.

As you reach the top of the walkway you see a long straight Memorial wall made up of individual stone panels, each with a name of a soul lost on Flight 93. They are all lined up in a perfectly straight line, following the path Flight 93 took as it crashed, signifying their unity in fighting the terrorists.

As you reach the wall you can see while the wall is in a straight line with the flightpath, each panel is at a slightly different angle signifying while they all worked together to stop the terrorists, each were individuals, who gave all.

This is from the far end of the wall looking down the flight path of the plane. If you look down the wall towards the end you can see A wooden gate.

If you look through the gate you see a path mowed into the prairie grass showing the same path Flight 93 took on 9/11.

A little closer look through the gate shows what could not be seen on the walkway to the wall.

I've got photos of the conceptual drawings of the completed site, (supposed to be done sometime in 2015. It's a very emotional experience.

Good after DLNats No.9 morning. This week will hold a special place in the hearts of Sharon and I as we finally got to meet some folkzez we only knew of on this board, some we have shared times with together before and especially the hospitality of our host couple "The Pratts." (Spoken like DA Bears.) Bill and Denise what can we say except Thank You for all that you did for us and our group. You are two special people and it warms our hearts as we retrace our days in Waldorf/DC. I haven't attended a Nats before but if this is any indication of how they all were I have missed a bunch of fun. Sharon and I always try to pinpoint special moments of our trips when we return home but where do you start with an experience like this. As for DC the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier has to be the most moving of all. If that didn't make tears well up in your eyes you need to have your heart examined. Sharon was filming and crying at the same time then when we observed a funeral on the way out ..... words can no longer express one's feelings. The special "bp Moonlight Touring Company" ride of DC, the HOHO trolley, the dinner at the Silver Diner (oh that poor waitress I bet she will have nightmares for years to come), the party at Draglist Nationals Headquarters with enough food to feed half of DC, the jam session with Cat and Daryl (from here on in known as the "Youngin"), bp a singin' his heart out, and the poor dog walking around thinking what did I do to deserve this, the rainout at the track but nobody seemed to mind as Zappy said, "the racing is a secondary event but the people come first", the group pictures and even Bunny too, then back to the motel and more FOOD with another jam session with the Youngin and Cat with bp singing and making us all laugh till we hurt, Zappy and LL doing the Motown dance and everyone having some big time fun, and finally the last meal together for breakfast. The old saying, "Time flies when you're having fun" is proof positive here. Sharon and I want to thank all of you for making our trip to DC memorable in so many ways and we are truly blessed to have meet and enjoyed all of you. God puts people in your life for a reason and this group is special for sure. I am planning on patching the sails on the SS White Pearl this week in preparation for next year. May the good Lord bless everyone. Thanks for the memories. Nannerz fer everyone. Gorilli here. :D
