1969 Hurst Super Stock AMX

Postby tbenvie » Sat Nov 28, 2009 11:28 pm

Hi-I am researching the 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMXs made by American Motors and Hurst for drag racing. I am interested in any info on the cars, the owners, and drivers, and also any dealer info-address, pictures-then and now-old ads from the newspaper, contacts, race results, etc.

If there are any photos on some sites I would appreciate the link. And if any pictures on my thread can be ID by photographer I would love to give them credit for the picture.

Here is a link to my research thus far:

There are some missing cars that were well known back when raced, such as the Beachy Bros, Stowe Engineering, Uncle Sam, and some others. I am also missing some owner info then and now. Any help would be appreciated, and confidential info need not be sent along.

Thanks for any help.

I believe there was a gentlemen by the name of Carl Hirst that ran a factory Super Stock AMX in the St. Louis, MO area and also at many Illinois dragstrips.

Do you have any information on this car?

Thank you for the help. The McCorkle AMX is currently restored to as-raced specs and is in PA. Here is a recent picture:

After Ron Ellis owned the AMX he sold it to the Boggs Brothers. Eventually I owned the body for over 10 years, and it is currently restored and raced in Albany, NY area. Here are four pics-green and then black when Ellis owned it, then Boggs Brothers then and now.
