Tognotti streamliner info

Postby Racer_Rick » Fri Jul 14, 2006 11:21 am

I need anything I can get, pics, drawings, info on the chassis & sheet metal. I want to verify it is or is not before I decide to weld on it or sell it. It was a west coast car with unbelievable craftsmanship. Need to know something so we can race it or sell it before next season

The car was going to be out nostalgia car with a blown flathead. Once we started the disassembly I found the car was of such craftsmanship I at least needed to find if it had a history. During the investigation we found it to be the streamliner so I contacted anyone that might have knowledge of it & to my suprise someone had contacted Dean Tognotti (Don's son) that day about it. We traded emails & pics & last night we called him. He wants to restore it to it's former glory. As most people know Don Tognotti was know for his street rods, this car exhibits the same quality. Here is a couple of pics. I really must thank Carl Blanton, owner of MoKan dragway. Without his help I would never have found the information on this car.

The car is down in Dallas right now at John Dearmore's getting chrome work done & some odds & ends. October it goes to California to be rebuilt to its former glory.

The car was called the Bushmaster. Jamie Jackson of Jackson Bros video fame knows the son of the cars driver. Call him via video site to verify. I think the car ended up on the show car circuit in the late 60's, no?

Don't know about the show circuit but it was the Bushwacker :) Supposed to go to Dave Uyehara to get the chassis done this winter.
