Mr. Goodvibes

Some of you folks know about the ghost that we have upstairs in the hall. We've all seen him, and he comes up and spooks us from time to time. I named him "Mr. Goodvibes" because he is so creepy when he decides to show up. He stomps up the hall and bangs his fist into our bedroom door in the middle of the night, he comes in and cops a feel on Debby every so often when she's at the sink putting on her makeup, he gives you a "freeeze" when you're walking alone in the hall in the dark. You feel cold...he does this, he does that. I ran into him the other night when I was getting home from a gig. I was walking up the hall and he came up to me and went right through me and I felt it. I actually kind of backed up a little and I said "Oh, excuse me..." and I kept going. Lately he's been throwing a fit. Just now I went upstairs to lay down for a few minutes and take a cat nap instead of sitting here in front of the computer and nodding off. He came in the bedroom and walked all the way around all 4 walls and knocked on each wall at the ceiling level in 5-foot intervals. I followed the sound. I think he's pissed because he knows what I'm getting ready to do. We have a ton of stuff. It's just stuff, ya know. Stuff that isn't being used but we haven't thrown away, Debby talks a great line about having a garage sale but it never happens, and stuff piles up. We have to do something with our stuff. I believe that if you put stuff in storage, you don't need it. So renting a storage space is not the answer. I discovered a hidden room upstairs about a year after we moved in here. You have to pull the bookshelf out of the wall that it's built into on the landing between the first and second stairways to get upstairs. Behind that bookshelf is a room, sealed off by 3 walls and the slope of the roof on one side that is partially floorless...if you crawl up into the ceiling, you can eventually get to the small attic...I hung a light in there and I put a plywood plank in there and a tarp, and Mr. Goodvibes went berzerk. The stuff I mentioned earlier happened after I did that. Well, our stuff is going to go in there and he knows what I'm thinking. That's his lair, and the hall upstairs is his bivouac. We're going to put the squeeze on Mr. Goodvibes and he is getting ready to put up a fight, I can tell. Stay tuned! It should get interesting. Cheers, WC1

That is very good advice, Doc. Thanks for that. Debby's out of town right now (in Missouri, actually...Dixon, near Fort Leonard Wood, visiting her family) but when she gets back I'm going to make her have the garage sale she's been talking about having for the last 5 years...Mr. Goodvibes thanks you as well...Cheers, WC1

I thought that little secret room was pretty cool, Cat....I think I could understand why GoodVibes would become upset about it being intruded upon. 8)

Well, I gotta do something with our stuff. I'll try not to bother Mr. Goodvibes, but he is up to his old tricks again. A little while ago I went out with Nick for an hour and a half...before we left, I locked the front door from the outside and we split. When we got back, the outer clear-panel door was still closed but the big deadbolted front door had been unlocked...from the inside...the key sitting on the little table next to it. WC1

I thought about leaving the door unlocked...it was National Night Out...I doubt that there were very many burglars cruising around the neighborhood with all the cops hanging out eating hot dogs over at my neighbor's house...but we have a fortune's worth of musical equipment in here, and some of it isn't ours...I locked the door...Mr. Goodvibes was just letting me know whose house it is...one of these days I'm going to have a little talkie-poo with him; try to establish some kind of communication with him other than YIKES! How'd he die in there...what would it take for him to rest his spirit...what does he want from us...maybe a seance would help clear the air up there? I'd much rather be his bud than his adversary. He scares the daylights out of us when we feel relaxed and we forget he's there...then all of a sudden, BOO! WC1

Yesterday Debby went with me down to Santa Fe, about 45 miles to the Labor Day celebration at the Haak Winery
http://www.haakwine.com/winery_events.htm
we played to an ecstatic crowd of around 4-500 people who were there to dance. It was a wonderful weekend. Sometimes I think I'm dreaming it or something. When we got home, Nick had his buddies over to spend the night. One of them who I'd never met, was playing Monopoly with another of Nick's buds...Nick said "Dad, so-and-so (his buddy's name that I can't remember) said he thinks our house is haunted..." The kid looked at me with a kind of scared look; he didn't know me...I said right away "This house IS haunted! There's a ghost in the hall upstairs." The kid jumped up and said "Yes, there IS! I saw him up there about an hour ago!" I said no problem. He likes to come up and spook ya. It's his thing. Just don't p*ss him off and he'll just let you know he's there...I guess I went up to bed about an hour later and I walked through the cold spot up there...I saw an orb...maybe I was just exhausted from the weekend (I had to work 11 1/2 hours today with more to come tomorrow) but there was movement and presence...it gets strange around here sometimes...Cheers, WC1
