Well, Nick just called. We talked for an hour at least. Actually, he was at the beach with a group of people when the earthquake hit. None of them were aware that anything had happened. They found out about it when they got back! They didn't feel anything!
He's been working on a 4,000 acre ranch, riding a horse and working the range. He said there are thousands of apple, peach and pear trees and an unlimited supply of grapes. He's been living on fruits the whole time. He said you can't imagine the breathtaking beauty of the mountainous regions of Central Chile. He said it's beyond beautiful there. He said it gets extremely hot during the day and extremely cold at night.
Tomorrow they're going to Argentina for a week. Then when he gets back he'll be at another ranch for 2 weeks. When that gig is done, he's going to work at Lisa's boyfriend Martin's brewery. He had the option to work at the pub Martin owns, but he said it stays very busy there and everybody is speaking Spanish so fast he can't understand what they're saying. He said the brewery will be steady work and good pay, so he'll do that for the remainder of his duration in Santiago.
But he also said he gets homesick a lot. Heck, we've been together all his life and this is the first time he's been gone. It just worked out that his buddies were here when he called so he got to talk to them, too. Debby's got the phone now so I imagine they'll talk for quite a while. Go, Nick! WC1
