Tell me about your kids...

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Congrats, Pro70... have a great day. Man, I'll be bawling like a baby when I have to give my little girl away. I can see it now... Nice pic, Doug. bp

I've got 3 boys - 12, 9, and 5.

The older 2 are into about any sport they can play. Soccer, basketball, baseball. One of the main reasons it takes me so long to get anything done on the car is that I'm always running to a practice or a game. I didn't play any sports at all as a kid (I was a band geek), so it's kind of neat to watch these guys.

My youngest just started soccer this spring and they sucked me into the organization to be a coach. They figured I'd been around it for the last 7 years, so I might as well do something. It's a trip coaching a bunch of 4,5, and 6 year olds. They're a great group. So far we've only lost one game - and when we played that team the second time we beat 'em.

My oldest is showing some interest in the car when he's not worrying about the latest sports stats. When we go to the track he's always making sure not to miss the juniors. I told him he'll have to wait until we get my car worked out before we add another car to the mix. He's finally getting old enough that he can do some things. I had him pulling the plugs out between rounds at the last race. One of the guys next to us came over and started asking him about the readings on some of his plugs - should of seen the look on his face.

My middle is the creative one. He will build anything out of legos. He builds a kit once, then the pieces go into the bin and god knows what he'll create with them then. The other day he had an entire parking lot of strange little 'cars'. I asked him what he was working on - he said he ran out of wheels so he was building boats.

Both of them show interest in music which is cool. My oldest has been in band at school for 2 years now and is probably the top trombone player in the 6th grade. Luckily he chose that instrument since I have 3 of them in the closet from when I played. The middle wants to play clarinet or sax when he starts next year - he played recorder this year and picked it up really quickly.

My youngest is just once crazy little guy. He's into anything and everything that his brothers are doing. We had some complications during birth and he ended up with a nerve injury that disabled his right arm. He gained more and more use as things healed, and around 9 months he wiggled his fingers - what a day! He will always have limited use and strength with that arm and it will probably always be smaller than the other one, but he is able to carry light things around in that hand and use it for support. He has taught us so much about adaptability. If there's something to do, he will figure out how to do it even if the way he does it is a bit strange. A lot of people don't even notice that he has a disability.

Guess I've rattled on enough....
