Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

They're all still there...I had to leave and come home and get ready to put in a full day's work tomorrow...Debby got the DVD done, and I purchased a CD from the sound men that they made directly off of the mixer. Everybody loved Blastula...they put in the show of their lives...that's easy to say, because the oldest guy in the band is 17 (Roland). Micah and Nick are 16, Alex is 15 and TJ is 14. They did the whole deal...big, huge banner behind 'em, massive sound system blasting them into Kingdom Come, lights going crazy all over the place, fog machines shrouding them in eerie camouflage, everything. It was a head-banging great set. Debby kept the DVD going after their show and she got the band loading Ludwig up in the parking lot with their stuff. The other bands came over and paid respect to them. By the way, the other bands are also very good. But Blastula played an awesome set...I will make copies of the DVD and mail them to whoever wants one...Doc, BP, etc...I was so damn proud...the manager of the club came up to me and told me straight-out: "Man! They sound GREAT!!!" He was amazed. He told me their sound system is set up for a good band to use, and that is a GOOD BAND...Nick didn't want to stop playing after the sound check. He said, "Let's just keep playing, man. We got till 6"...it was 4:30...it sounded that good! They got 30 minutes, though...Cheers, WC1

I made 19 copies of the DVD today. We have a burner at the shop and I just reached over and kept it going while I had a few seconds between mouse clicks...I watched it and it's the definitive Blastula performance. We have DVDs of at least 3 other shows they did, but this one was with Fitzgerald's state-of-the-art sound system, lights and atmosphere...I will mail them shortly...

NOTE: The music of Blastula is savage and brutal, without pretense. They are HARDCORE to the MAX. The guys in the band all make good grades, don't do drugs and are all popular and well-rounded kids. But their music is a primal howl from Hell under a moonless sky. Every time I hear these guys play, I'm shocked. I know them as people and they're all fine young men, but like I said, the music's totally off the charts. 95% of this show is as tight and fast and loud as it gets. There are one or two spots where they get lost...could have been the fog machines or something...but this was their last performance...They definitely rode the lightning at Fitzgeralds. Hope you enjoy it. Cheers, WC1
