They would be honored, Doc...
I'm still trying to realize that Roland and Micah are not here anymore. Nick has been talking about moving on from hardcore for a while, but as long as the band was here, he played with all his heart. My older son, Kyle and a buddy of his, John Gordon, who is building my custom guitar for me, have been collaborating and writing songs together for a couple of years. Kyle and Nick have talked about putting something together, and Nick told me the other day they're going to start working on that. But Blastula was truly something special, and everybody dug 'em. First as people, and then the music starts and all hell breaks loose...what a band. The dancing girls in the DVD are over here every day hanging out. They adopted the band as their own, and now that Roland and Micah have moved to Florida, they are still coming around. That's good for Nick, I suppose, but he's still trying to find his way without the other guys right now. Alex will be in Chicago all summer, working for his brother up there. TJ, I'm not sure what TJ will be doing...hopefully something good. Can't wait to hear how you like the show. Cheers, WC1

The Pee Wee Bowen band is gaining momentum and quickly becoming the most popular band in town. We're playing to bigger and bigger crowds and more and more gigs are coming in. Our schedule is being revised weekly because bigger money gigs are coming in that replace the ones we booked last year. Our radius has reached 300 miles. I opened The Scene magazine to find a picture of my grinning puss playing at the Charlie Greenway benefit at the Cock-Eyed Seagull, on the page after they showed Pee Wee hitting a high note. Nick's teacher, Kevin Berry, told him as an assignment this summer, he wants him to go out and see all kinds of bands play. All styles, all ages, everything. He told Nick to get a Houston Music News Magazine...the biggest and most popular music magazine in this region...so I picked one up when I bought some guitar strings the other day and I left it there for Nick to pick up...a few days later, he said "Congratulations on having your picture in Music News, Dad..." I said "What? You mean "The Scene"?" He said no, you and Pee Wee are in Music News...He handed it to me and there's Pee Wee, hitting a high note at the Lone Star, the supermarket-turned-nightclub, with my grinning puss behind him, twanging my DragList Telecaster. We're booked well into 2010 now and the phone is ringing off the wall over at Pee Wee's house...last Saturday night we played a gala fundraiser at the NASA Hilton. The crowd was made up entirely of rich folks...NASA big shots, executive-level dudes with gorgeous trophy wives decked out to the you-know-whats and dripping with diamonds. Once we started playing, they got down with it and didn't let up. Pee Wee was outstanding. The band played great. They danced and partied and danced and partied and danced and partied like there was no tomorrow...they squeezed every note out of us that they could devour...at the end of the night, they were Pee Wee Bowen band fans. Pee Wee handed out all of his band cards. They want us back, and they have parties, too...now they want us to play for their parties...life is good. We were packing up and getting ready to load out, and we got hugged, kissed, slapped on the back, and thanked to no end. They NEEDED that...Cheers, WC1
PS: That's the hotel where that lady (Clara Harris) ran over her dentist husband with her Mercedes a couple of years ago in the parking lot when she caught him out there with his girlfriend...she hit him and knocked him down, then she made a lap and came back around and ran over him again to make sure she got him...don't know if that made the news elsewhere, but it was a high-society crime of passion here that made big headlines...she got life...I think it was the lap around the parking lot and the second hit that got her hard time. She killed him..Cat
