"She was a witchy woman" is part of the lyrics of the song I heard, it is not from the Eagles, it is newer than that, I think.
I thought it might be from Bob Welsh (sp), but can't find any reference to him for the song.

Maybe it was supposed to be "She was a Gypsy woman"?? by Brian Hyland

"Gypsy Woman"

(As recorded by Brian Hyland)
CURTIS MAYFIELD

From nowhere through a caravan
Around a campfire light
A lovely woman in motion with hair as dark as night
Her eyes were like that of a cat in the dark
They hypnotized me with love.

She was a gypsy woman
She was a gypsy woman.

She danced around and 'round to a guitar melody
From the fire her face was all aglow
How she enchanted me
Oh how I'd love to hold her near
And kiss and forever whisper in her ear.

I love you gypsy woman
I love you gypsy woman.

All through the caravan
She was dancing with all the men
Waiting for the rising sun, everyone was having fun
I hate to see the lady go, knowing she'll never know
That I love her, I love her.

Gypsy woman
I love you gypsy woman
I love you gypsy woman
I love you gypsy woman
I love you gypsy woman.

Cool... I'm a big Bob Welch fan, but can't remember that exact line... could it be Ebony Eyes? Need to listen to those tunes again. Be sure to look for Fleetwood Mac as a possible search criteria because Bob was with them with he penned many of those great early 70s tunes. bp

Someone over on the Yellow Bullet helped me find the song.
Here is the song I was trying to think of. Devil Woman by Cliff Richards.

I was driving back to the motel room @ 5:30 AM after being up for almost 24 hours working on a Starbucks remodel project when I heard the song.
I have no idea how I confused the words so much. :?
