It's not drag racing but it's close to my momma and that turtle dude!
The IRL will be running at Newton's nearly finished 7/8 mile track next June 24, 2007. Hmmm, draglist reunion that weekend could be a sweet match up!
Look out Randy as we're invading Iowa next week for the Knoxville Nationals! Hide the Maid-Rites and the onion rings! 8)

First I've heard of the Newton track was last weekend when we took a trip back home to Iowa. I don't keep up with the oval stuff too much, but the Newton track was a topic of discussion in I-O-W-A. Could NASCAR be in their future?

Mr Haney down at the General Store ordered up some home phone lines from the Sears and Roebuck catalog!! Can't wait for them to get here sometime next Spring after the snow melts. He said for everybody to save their cans this year,,,,I wonder why????

The Newton track has lots of news going around about it. They are making noise about having a new 1/8 mile drag strip there. In the beginning they to quote "had no interest" in having a drag race at their track.

Now the word is they will have an 1/8 mile track, with looking ahead to having a 1/4 mile and getting a National Event.

Yes Doc, 1/2 hour straight East of Des Moines, right on the interstate. They have even built all new on and off ramps for the location. 8)

Rusty is either a track front man, or really has some money in it. He did design the track for sure. :D

The track is nice, and the town needed something positive with the original Maytag plant closing soon. They had 450 people sign up for the Richard Petty experience last weekend.
