What's Your Favorite Racing Song ?

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Your right Doc it is wicked games... oops

BP Cerwin Vega speakers are awesome, saving my pennies to get mine fixed or to by a new pair. I looked into buying some new ones awhile back and couldn't afford them, then I found out they only come in black if you buy them from store stock if you want wood grain you have to order them.

I was going to get a pair back in the Navy when I was building my "ultimate stereo" (I still have most of the major pieces of it 26 years later). But they were out of them and I had to get Bose 901s instead! Then I sold those to make some money to move down here for my first D.C. job in 1983... I bought some Sound Source speakers, which were supposed to be CW innards into a mom and pop enclosure.. Those worked great for years. I replaced them with some BSR monsters with 15 inch subwoofers that were as big in the front as the CWs I had wanted all those years ago, but only half the depth. They work OK, but are starting to get a little long in the tooth. Probably will downsize one of these days, but they are holding their own for now... I was really in search of the sound of a live club and I came pretty close in my approximation... last ten years, I haven't really taken the time for much critical listening (where that's all I do is sit and listen to the music). Damned Internet and kids! bp

Car Crazy Cutie off Shut Down pt 2...Springsteen's RITS after changing a few words for accuracy went over well in my band.....all time for no apparent reason is Maria Muldaur's Midnight at the Oasis..a musical contact high I love to have on in the garage. I've had Miles Davis' Bitches Brew on deck during Street Legal..and Coltrane! Drummer Elvin Jones plays contrapuntally on a 5-tenths tree........

Mine is Stevie Wonder's Superstition.
This happened back in 1972 > 1974 when I was 12 or 14 at the time my brother was helping Trueman Fields out on his S/S car & took me with him to the points race at Edgewater Sports park when all NHRA classes ran point's meets.
We were traveling down a very steep hill on the way to the track and Superstition came on the radio. Don't know why but this song has always been my favorite racing song.
This was also my first live experience with drag racing. 8)
Watched it on TV but never got to be up close to the cars. :)
Damn I sure miss those days

I just spent an hour looking for a book I have that has every song ever recorded from 1947 on, because I knew The Safaris didn't do it, but I couldn't remember who actually did. Unfortunately I couldn't find the book, but it looks like I didn't have to after all.

There was the band, the Surfaris, that did "Wipeout" and the flip side on the 45 was "Surfer Joe"...any relation to the Safaris and "Surfer Dan"? Cheers, WC1
